TAP Air Portugal always uses zone-based pricing. It has two award charts in particular: one for TAP Air Portugal flights and one for partner flights.

Non-Alliance Airline Partners

TAP Air Portugal also has affiliations with Azul, Capital Airlines, Emirates, GOL, and SATA. Because award tickets on these airlines cost the same as tickets on Star Alliance partners, the above award chart will apply.

The 5 Best Ways to Put Your TAP Air Portugal Miles to Good Use

TAP Air Portugal has undergone many devaluations, sucking much of the value out of the loyalty programme, at least when it comes to redeeming miles.

We've found several sweet spots and decent redemptions after a lot of research and analysis. These redemptions will give you good value for your points, but they won't be as exciting as, say, redeeming Alaska miles.

Now that that's out of the way, let's look at the finest TAP Miles&Go redemptions.

1 From Oceania to theU.S.

If you're reading this, you're surprised by TAP Air Portugal's partnership with Emirates. Your confusion is understandable, even though this collaboration is only beneficial to travellers. Emirates' business class is one of the most opulent business class flights available. You'll get exceptional value with opulence and price tags to match. Booking Emirates' business class with points has recently become more expensive. Booking Emirates' business class with TAP miles is possible, albeit not much cheaper. The good news is that fuel surcharges are not passed on, so your out-of-pocket expenses will be too small.

2 Between Dubai and Asia

This particular redemption is exceptional. Let's say that for 50,000 miles, you can get up to 12 hours of Emirates business class with no fuel surcharges. If this seems unbelievable to you, it's because it has been flying under the radar for quite some time.

3 Between San Francisco and Lisbon

While TAP does not have as many US routes as British Airways, it is still a fantastic airline for nonstop transatlantic flights. TAP Air Portugal's award chart favours flights on its own metal, which means that TAP flights are generally the best value. Miles&Go charges 100,000 kilometres for flights among Portugal and the United States. In this case, the most efficient way to redeem miles is to fly as long as possible in business class, which is possible through San Francisco (SFO). Best of all, the San Francisco (SFO)-Lisbon (LIS) route is the new A330-900neo plane, which offers an excellent business class product.

4 From the U.S. tothe Azores

If you don't want to fly to mainland Portugal nonstop from the United States, you can visit the Azores, one of two autonomous regions in the Atlantic Ocean about 850 miles west of mainland Portugal. This archipelago is for its incredible natural beauty, fishing villages, and some of the most unusual plant species. It is a niche location that you may wish to visit. TAP Air Portugal is the most logical way to get to the Azores. The best part is that you won't have to pay any extra miles for the connecting flight from Portugal to the Azores.

5 From Portugal toBrazil

If you want to fly on some of TAP Air Portugal's longest routes, you should fly from Portugal to a variety of Brazilian destinations. The A330-900neo business class seats are on the majority of the routes. A 9 to 10-hour flight will cost 113,000 miles. This isn't the best value option, but it's still a good deal when you consider that the cheapest business-class tickets range from $2,500 to $3,500.

Enjoy your vacation with Tap Portugal Airlines and book your tickets now.
